Picnic at Mt. Nebo

Every fall we take a picnic up into the mountains to see the changing leaves. We went south to Mt. Nebo. There is a little lake up there that we like to walk around and pick up leaves. I love the fall! I love the cooler weather, the smell of pumpkin pie, my birthday (although this year I'm trying to avoid the fact that I'm rolling over into a new decade), Halloween, and Thanksgiving.

Gorgeous!

Well the day wouldn't be complete without a meltdown from Colton.

The boys love coming up here, even though they know they will have to endure a picture session with mom. I love the fall!

The Greatest Show on Earth

Saturday night my parents came down to watch the boy's in there primary program the next day. That night everyone (but me! sob, sob) went to the circus. Always a great show! Even though were were in the nose bleed section, they had a great time!

It's a BOY!!

So there's no mistaking it, the baby is definitely a boy!! Well, I guess you don't mess with prefection, right? I'm still taking it in-not upset, but maybe shocked. But, Logan and Ethan cried. They really wanted a sister. I tried to explain the whole, "you pick your family when you're in heaven," but it didn't matter to them. He looks healthy (which really is the most important part). So the latest Avery model is due mid-Feb.

Quidditch for Muggles

You have to check this out. 65 colleges are adding quidditch to their sports. Now I love Harry Potter, but this is taking it to a ridiculous level. Crazy.

Utah State Fair

On Saturday we ventured to the State Fair. We haven't come to the Utah State Fair since Logan was a baby. We didn't know that we had to take out a loan before we came! $1 for each ticket, and each ride was 3-5 tickets- times 3 boys! Luckily Colton didn't really care, and Ethan just wanted to play the games. No wonder my mom didn't let us go on many rides when we were young.

I LOVE this one of Logan (in the middle of the picture) totally enjoying himself!

Colton had fun waiving to everyone as he went by, and no he's not by himself-Ethan's in there too. Although I don't think he qualified as "a responsible rider."

One thing I thought was cute was this section were kids did some local farming. They had to feed the (fake) cow, milk her, grow seeds, harvest them, collect eggs, collect wool from the sheep and take all their items to the market. They received a (again, fake) dollar, and buy something at the store where they could buy a little (real!) food item.

Getting the years supply of grease. Pizza, sausage dogs, funnel cakes, etc. Although, I was a little disappointed on the food selection. I LOVE Idaho's fair's food. (I missed my tiger ear. sniff sniff. Those not in the know- a big, delicious, scone with cinnamon-sugar, and dripping with honey. Yuummmm....Erick- do you have any left over?)

Have you ever seen a 2 year old cross his eyes? I hope they don't stay that way!

This little piggy went to the market.

Ba-ram-ewe, to your fleece, your breed, your creed be true. (fyi-I really did like the Babe movie.) We had our fill of the fair. I would have loved to look through the commercial buildings, but the boys had all they could take, plus we needed to run to Bountiful to get Teresa's (Carl's mom)car rental to return. And I still had to work that night. Teresa had been here for part of the week taking Lauren to BYU-Idaho. I love the fair, next year I'd like to go to Idaho's-I'm still craving my tiger ear!!

Most Embarrassing Moment

I saw a tag for most embarrassing moment, so I thought I would share mine. Maybe it's that the most painful moments are blocked from mind, or I just don't have that many, but this is one that I remember.
Let me set the stage. I grew up with family as neighbors. My grandma's 3 boys all built houses around hers. Every Sunday night we would all end up at her house and play games, talk, and eat popcorn. I loved this time in my life.
So it was a typical Sunday night one winter when I was about 9 or 10. Oh! I forgot to mention that my grandpa was a dairy farmer and has a milk barn by the house. Behind the barn is a little pit where the cow's "excretements" are drained into from the barn. Well.....my cousin Stephanie (who some of you know) and I went outside. We saw the now frozen pit. I don't know who's idea it was, but we decided to go ice skating on the "pond." But we were smart, we wanted to test the thickness of the ice to make sure it could hold us. How terrible it would be if we were to fall in! So I grabbed a thick stick and and leaned on it to see if it would break the ice. To my horror, the stick slipped out from underneath me, and I came falling down on the ice. No, the ice was not thick enough. I went right through. Half of my body was covered in cow poop! I even lost a boot that was never recovered. Completely drenched and cold and smelly, we came traipsing into the back door. The look on everyone's face is etched into my mind forever. First the pure look of confusion as what had happened. Then as I explained my story, my cousins (also clarification I am the first girl under 6 boys in the family!!) burst out in laughter as the rest of the family stiffled their laughs. My mother gingerly took me home where I showered. Gross!! Luckily no one really remembers this, but I will always remember this lesson: never ice skate on a poop pond!
Now, I challenge anyone to post their most embarrassing moment!!
